Who we are

About us

A government-licensed travel company in Uttardhoka, Lazimpat — arranging treks, heritage tours, jungle safaris and pilgrimages inside Nepal, and nowhere else.

Our position

One country, done properly

Plenty of Kathmandu agencies will sell you Bali, Dubai and a Europe package alongside the Everest trek. We do not. Trans Holidays operates inside Nepal only, and every route on this site is one our own guides walk.

That narrowness is the whole proposition. It means we know which lodge at Dingboche has the warm dining room, which week the rhododendron actually flowers above Ghandruk, and which morning the Jomsom flight will not go. It means when a landslide closes the road to Syabrubesi we have a driver who knows the alternative, not an email address in another country.

Everything is handled from one office: the permits, the TIMS cards, the domestic seats, the guide, the porter, the teahouse. No agents, no operators abroad, no subcontracting. If it happens on your trip, someone here booked it.

Why we travel

Handled end to end, from Kathmandu

Permits, TIMS cards, domestic flights, guides and porters — arranged by one team in Lazimpat, for trails we walk ourselves.

Licensed Nepali guides Government-licensed guides and porters from the districts you walk through.
Max 12 trekkers Small teahouse groups Capped at twelve, so the lodges on the trail can actually host you.

Responsible travel

The commitments we actually keep

Not a policy page. These are the things we can be held to, and the ones a guest can check.

01

Staff paid and insured

Guides and porters are paid the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors’ rate, insured for rescue and medical care, and given kit, lodging and food on every trip.

02

Loads capped at 20 kg

One porter per two trekkers, and no porter carries more than 20 kg. If your kit weighs more than that, we add a porter rather than a load.

03

Money stays in the valley

We book beds and food in the villages you walk through, direct with the families who own the lodges, rather than through a Kathmandu middleman.

04

No elephant riding

We stopped offering elephant-back safaris in 2019 and will not book one for you. Jeep and canoe reach the same parts of Chitwan.

05

Descent beats summit

Guides carry a pulse oximeter on high routes and have the authority to turn a group around. Nobody at this company has ever been asked to push on.

06

Rebuilt villages first

On the Langtang route every lodge we use is owned by a family who survived the 2015 landslide and rebuilt there. It is the most direct way a trekking rupee reaches them.
